Attracting Shoppers To Your Ecommerce Website

So you have created your own magnificent website and are you are now ready to take the next step to attract shoppers to your website. There are a few things you can do to boost your traffic and to keep visitors coming like flies.

Advertise: Places like google adwords and yahoo sponsored search are good places to put your website advertisements. You can get much visibility to your site for keywords that you choose and you only pay when someone clicks on your site. You select your budget and for as little as ten dollars you can get hundreds of impressions. How does this work? When a potential shopper searches for a specific term matching your "keyword" in the search engines, they will get an advertisement about your site in the results. You will only be charged if the user decides to click on a link.

Search Engine Optimization: Make sure your content is "friendly" to search engines. You have a title, no broken links, plenty of backlinks, etc. There are many search engine optimization tips you can read about if you search google, I could go into a lot of detail but that would be a whole other article. Create an affiliate program for your website with coupons: Almost all large websites have them. Basically the idea is to tell other website owners that you will pay them if they refer visitors to your site and the consumer purchases your product. This works out great because you are only paying them if the customer purchases a product. Places like commission junction, linkshare, performics are sites that help vendors create affiliate programs. Affiliates who want to join your program will sign up if they believe their sites can help them sell your product. As a personal website owner of many affiliate programs I recommend that you give discount coupon codes as well to attract even more potential affiliates to join your program. What are coupon codes? Coupon codes are text entries that shoppers input before checking out in order to receive a discount on a website. In my website, webcouponcodes.com, I only try to sign up with affiliate programs that offer promotional coupon codes. This is a win-win-win situation for everybody. The vendor gets profit from selling the product, the affiliate gets commission for promoting the product and the shopper gets a discount from shopping from you.

Blog and write articles: Writing articles and blogs are a great and inexpensive way to market your website. The more you write the more visitors will come to your site. How? Search engines love good content so they will index your pages for different and/or similar search terms. The more pages you have in the search engines, the more likely somebody will find and visit your site. If I had a large scale ecommmerce site, one of the first people I would hire would be a content writer so he could just write articles all day.
