Getting your Website Higher in Search Engines

To increase your website traffic, improving your search engine rankings is something you will need to do. You will need to improve your search engine ranking, in order to get your site visibility in searches. Below are ten tips on some important factors, for you to get your site higher in the searches.

1) Quality Content is needed if you are seeking high search engine rankings. The content should use (but not overuse) your target keywords. You can easily look at your competitor�s websites and check and use similar keywords (on the top of the web-page, select VIEW and then SOURCE and you will see a sites META tags and keywords being used). Ensure that the content is fluently written i.e. that the content does not simply list words, because Google will then penalise you for keyword stuffing.

2) Try to buy and use a domain name which has your keywords in it. If you are building a property website for example, then try and buy something with Real Estate or property in the domain name. This can help a little in terms of Search Engine Optimisation.

3) Try and use textual rather than graphical content where possible. If you do use images then ensure that you also use the alt tags.

4) Try to use some of your keywords in these alt tags and also, name your images well i.e. try again to use the keywords in the image names, i.e. property-sicily.jpeg.

5 ) The title of your page is very important so make sure you write this well. Keep it to a maximum of 12 words. Make sure you write these words differently and specific to each web-page and that the title words match the content words on the web-page

6) Try to use niche expressions in your titles, so that you can distinguish your web page and get higher in searches.

7) Keep your links on your website relevant and try and use links which have a good Page-rank. Make sure the links are related to the same field.

8) Ensure you periodically update the content of your website, even if it's only a slight change, as web-sites like sites that are kept updated.

9) You need to consider the fact most search engines don't like automatic submissions or multiple submissions - submit once, manually.

10) Always keep up-to-date with SEO news. Things change often in SEO so keeping up to date with new techniques will help you.
