List Building Using Search Engine Traffic (Part 4, List Building Strategies)

Search engine traffic is another big key to building a quality list. How do you do it? One of the things to know with search engine traffic, unlike article and forum traffic from parts 2 and 3 of this series, and traffic exchange traffic in part 5, search engine traffic takes time to build. But this is a pretty serious form of traffic, and it tends to be very highly targeted traffic. The first thing you need to do is get your web page optimized for your keywords. If you have more than one or two keywords (and you should), you should create multiple web pages. They can all be on the same site, but each page will be optimized for different keywords. What do you target? Your keyword tag, your description tag, your title, and the web page itself should be keyword-rich. Whenever you use a forum or article or other advertising where you will be creating a link to your web site, use the web page that is targeted to the keywords you put in your link. So how do you get targeted subscribers from the search engines? The first thing you need, of course, is traffic. And that traffic will take time to build. If you are actively using other methods of promotion like forums, article marketing, and traffic exchanges, you will notice your search engine rankings grow faster. What should your web page have on it? It should contain just enough information for the visitor to see that you have knowledge about the topic, and it should offer an incentive to receive more information. Every web page should have an opt-in form to your subscriber list. Every web page. Sometimes you might think that you haven’t really promoted one web page, so nobody will ever really see it. But the search engines can and do. I have had visits to my web pages with keyword combinations I never thought anyone would ever enter, and yet they do, and because I was indexed, the search engines sent me that visitor.
