One of the more common known ones would be dmoz.org. What is so great about these link directories is that they enable you to receive a large number of one way inbound links that point to your website. As these links are human edited, in order to get into these directories you often need to have a "white hat" "non spammy" website. When you website appears in these link directories it often helps to gain more trust within the search engines and will therefore rank higher. Video - If you are able to create a video about the topic of your website then I strongly recommend that you do. If you make the video funny and interesting it can be a way of generating huge amount of visitors to your website. With services such as youtube and google video it provides you with a way of getting your video seen by thousands of people. Which will provide your website with more exposure. Forum Interaction - There are forum out there on nearly every topic available. Find some of the more popular ones on your website topic, join them and interact with the other members. Provide good information and become an authority figure within that forum. The benefit of that is that most forums allow you to include a signature at bottom of each post you make. The better the information that you provide the more visitors you will get to your website. What are my thoughts on SEO? There is no magic pill to SEO website promotion. It's just about using your common sense. The simple fact is the more EXPOSURE that you can get for your website the more chances it has of ranking higher. By generating positive exposure for your website it will go hand in hand with improving your search engine ranking. Why? Because people will be more likely to place your article on their website, link to you, recommend you to friends and so forth. Ranking high in the search engines is about positive exposure. As we move into the so called web 2.0 era it becomes even more important to get people out there interested in your website topic talking about you. If you manage to do this successfully then ranking high in the search engines and getting lots of visitors will be much easier than you think.
